This Trip Earned High School Credit!!!

Journal entry #1:

I was glad when I was chosen to be a student ambassador. I was glad because I get to go to cool places.  The people in my family thought it was pretty cool to be chosen.

Journal entry #2:

This is what would happen if a person from an other country came to my house.  I would tell them the history of the United States.  As a host I would ask them what their expectations where.  As a gift I would give them a baseball cap.  Thing we do in my family that doesn’t reflect of all Americans is camping.

Journal entry #3: Zoo

Hear: stomping, growling, and people talking.

Taste: ice cream, and cold sodas

See: animals, cages, and wooden signs

Smell: food and a nasty smell

Touch: bars, signs and gates

Journal entry #4:

If you went to this place you would hear a lot of talking, stomping, and growling.  You could taste ice cream and cold sodas.  Food and a nasty smell is what you would smell.  You can touch wooden signs, metal gates, and bars.  At this place you would see gray cages, animals, and signs.  What is this place?

Journal entry #5:

When I did the easter baskets I felt good.  I felt good because I was helping other people.  That was a fun experience and helpful experience.

Note from delegation leader:

Conner-

Check the topics for the individual meetings.  They really need to be expanded-   3-4 paragraphs would be good.  What you have completed is OK but needs to be a tad longer.

Answer the Questions- Who, what, where, why and how.  Try to describe things in terms of time, location, function, color, size shape ETC-

Work on it on the plane.  We can give you a hand.

The Trip Begins:

June 26, 2005

Today we just got to Australia!  I and the other people went to Underwater World.  I was in a group with Shane.  There was a lot of neat animals to see.  There was Lobsters, seals, jellyfish, and other underwater animals.  I liked the seals.  I liked the seals because they could do a lot of awesome trick.  They could catch fist and other tricks.  Me and Shane made a picture.  It has him and me and some other kids in a shark attack.  They picture costed $12 dollars.  He wanted one copy, so we bought one copy.  While we were at Underwater World we got some nachos for lunch.  We had a lot of fun at Underwater World.  Underwater World is located in Brisbane.  The hotels in Brisbane are nice.  Our hotel was nice and big.  I shared a room with Tyler, Michael, and Josh.

June 27, 2005

Today we went to the zoo in Australia.  The Australian zoo has a lot of unique animals.  There were koalas, kangaroos, emus, and big turtles.  There was a turtle that was very very old.  The koalas were very nice.  All they did was sit in there trees eating leafs.  The kangrooes were my favorite part.  They were nice to see in the Australian zoo.  Next we went to a place where they talked about many different animals.  There were tigers, birds, crocodiles, and snakes.  First there was the snakes; they told us what to do if you got bit by one.  Then on the birds, they told different facts about some birds.  On the crocodiles they also told us different facts about them.  When the tigers came out, the keepers showed us what tricks they could do.  At the zoo I got a necklace at the gift shop.  That was one of the best days so far.

June 28, 2005

Today we were on a very long bus ride to a farm.  It was about 7 hours long.  I sat by Harkeem on the bus ride to the farm stay.  On the way there we stoped at a gas station.  I got 5 postcards and a Coke with Lime.  It was pretty cheap to buy.  It was probably about $5 for all of It.  On the bus me and my friends were playing blackjack or 21.  All of us had a lot of fun playing that game.  On the second stop we when to a Dairy Museum.  The Dairy Museum had a lot of old items from the past.  Then we ate at a gym by the Dairy Museum.  While we were at the Dairy Museum we played some football in the field.  After that we went back in the bus.  When we got to the farm we got to our rooms.  I am in a room with my friends.  Then we had four races.  I did not like the last race. You had to eat veggiemite.  Veggiemite is very nasty.  It tastes like beef with soy sauce.  That is what I did today.

June 29, 2005

Today we were still staying at the farm.  In the morning we woke up very early.  First we went to breakfast.  For breakfast I had sausage and eggs.  Then we went to the picnic tables and played Wink Murder.  The game wink murder was ok to play.  Then we play a game were we race to eat the Mars chocolate candy bar.  We had to put on some clothes like a vest, shirt, pants, and a hat.  I did not get to taste the Mars chocolate candy bar.  I heard the Mars candy bar tasted good.  Then a girl teached us how to crack a whip.  It was pretty hard to do.  Next a guy teached us how to milk a cow.  I did not really like milking a cow.  The leaders told us we had to do something for the talent show.  I did a card game called blackjack.  I was in a group with Shane, Devon, Zac, Zach, Jermany, and Hakeem.  We got 9 points for our talent.

June 30, 2005

We finally left the Cooper Downs farm.  Before we left the farm we went to eat some Breakfast.  I just had some cereal and some orange juice.  When we left we went on the bus and went to a different place.  On the way there we went to stop at a rest stop.  We stayed there so the the bus driver took Dakotah to the hospital so the doctor could see how his arm was doing because he broke it.  When they got back everyone got back on the bus.  Next we went to a place where someone told us about the great barrier reef.  He told us how to take care of the Great Barrier Reef.  The group of people who help the Great Barrier Reef were called O.U.C.H. Next we went to a boat so we could go to long island.  The hotels at long island are cool.  I am in a room with Jermany, Caleab, and Zach vogt.  That is what happened today.

July 1, 2005

This morning I woke up around 4:30.  Then I took a shower and got dressed for the today.  Then I went to breakfast with the rest of the group.  Next we went on a boat to go back to Rock Hampton.  That took about 15 minutes.  After that we went on another boat that was called the Fanta Sea.  The Fanta Sea boat took us to the Reef World.  Reef world was located by the great barrier reef.  When we first got there we got on one of those tiny submarines.  On the submarine we saw a lot of different fishes and corals.  Now that was awesome to see.  Then we had some lunch. Lunch was good.  They had many different kinds of foods.  Next we went snorkling in the Great Barrier Reef.  I took a lot of cool photos.  I took pictures for Dakotah.  I took pictures of big fishes and corals.  That was a fun Day.

July 2 & 3, 2005

On July 2 we only rode on the bus most of the time.  We stoped in Yeppoon.  We stayed at a hotel.   The hotel we stayed in was one of the best hotels we had ever stayed at before.  I am in a room with Dakotah, Zac, and Caleb.  They are nice people.  Now it is July 3, 2005 and I woke up around 5:30.  At 8:00 am we ate breakfast.  I got cereal to eat and some orange juice to drink.  Today we went to the curatural center.  At the curatural (teachers comment: Cultural) center we sawed the aborginies.  First we went to the gift shop.  I got two returning boomerangs.  Then we went to the museum.  The museum showed us the history of the aborginies.  Next we learned how to throw a boomerang.  I think that was the best part.  Then we saw some of the different dances the aborginies do at certain times.  That is what I did these two days.

July 4 &5, 2004

Today is the 4th of July.  But no one is celebrating it accept us.  It is that way because we are in Australia.  Today we are going to Sydney.  First we had to ride on the bus to Brisbane.  Brisbane was the First place we went to in Australia.  Next we got on a plane to go to Sydney.  The plane trip was a least 2 hours long.  It is finally July 5th, 2005.  Today we went to the Sydney Opera House.  They Sydney Opera House is huge.  You could fit over hundreds of people.  You also get a lot of different views.  I really liked the tour of the Sydney Opera House.  The gift shop was the part I didn’t like because everything was a lot of money.  After the Sydney Opera House we went to the rocks.  The Rocks was where England used to put convicts.  I was a convict called Thomas Hill.  I learned a lot about the rocks.  That is what happened on that day.  (teacher comment: Excellent Job!)

July 6 & 7, 2005

Today is July 6, 2005 and we are going to a surf awareness lesson.  The lifeguards are teaching us surfing and safety tip.  First they divided us into 2 groups by our numbers on our tags.  I was put in a group that first did the surfing part.  We got the boards and the lifeguards took is into the water.  When a wave came he would turn the boards around with us on it.  Next the wave like shot us back to the beach.  Then they taught us how to walk in the water.  Then we did races on the beach.  After that we went to the opal museum.  A guy showed us how to cut and polish a opal.  On the 7th of July we went to a indoor pool.  This is where they had the olpymics in 2000.  It was a very big place.  I didn’t go swimming because I did not feel like it.  So all I did was talk to my friends and listen to some music.

July 8, 2005

Today is my birthday!  I got a aborginie instrument.  It is called a digital remover.  I do not have a clue of how you play this instrument.  Now we are on the plane plane going to L.A.  Then we have a 6 hour layover in LA.  After that we finally go home to our families.  I really enjoyed my time in Australia.  I hope I am in the People to People program next year.  (teacher comment:  I am glad to hear you had a great time!)
